Infant Swing Linked to 5 Deaths

Did You Purchase or Was Your Baby Injured in a Fisher-Price Snuga Swing?

Fisher-Price has recalled 2.1 million Snuga Infant Swings in the U.S. after 5 infants suffocated in these devices. The recall provides a $25 refund to consumers who remove the headrest and body support.

Richard Trumka, commissioner of the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, issued a statement calling this recall inadequate. He states, "First, Fisher-Price fails to recall the entire product, instead recalling only a portion of it. Even after a consumer follows through with the recall “remedy,” the product remains unsafe for infant sleep, yet Fisher-Price encourages “continuing to use the swing.” Second, along with choosing to recall only a portion of the product, Fisher-Price is offering consumers only a small portion of the product’s cost—$25, when consumers originally spent around $160 for the Snuga Swings. I fear that this dangerous approach will keep babies at risk of death just to save Fisher-Price money—a horrible example of putting profit over people."

We have represented countless families who lost their infants and toddlers to defective products.

Manufacturers of Unsafe Infant Products Must be Held Accountable

Product liability attorney Alan M. Feldman said it is critical for manufacturers of children’s products to ensure that their products are safe by conducting a hazard analysis and designing their products so that the most vulnerable segment of society is protected from needless harm.

“Unfortunately, this is another tragic example of product manufacturers not living up to their responsibility and then demonstrating reluctance to issue a full recall of its defective products even after injuries occur,” Feldman said.
